Put in: Pearl Creek Bridge
Take Out: Fisher Creek
Shuttle Length: 4 mi.
Drive north from McCall on Warren Wagon Road (which begins on the west side of Payette Lake), 11 miles to the Fisher Creek bridge take-out. The put-in is four miles farther up the road.
Camping: Good camping can be found all along the run. Don't miss Burgdorf Hot Springs which is only 15 miles on up the road. Take it from me.
Additional Runs: For the canoe enthusiasts, there is an excellent run below Fisher Creek in the spring and early summer on the North Fork of the Payette. This beautiful meandering run is considered a Class I+.
Put in at Fisher Creek Bridge and take out northern end of Payette Lake.
*for private parties
Above Payette Lake, the North Fork of the Payette is a small and icy runoff stream. It only runs for two to three weeks in a normal year. This steep upper run is fast, shallow and rocky, running 1500 cfs max. Watch out for logs. A swim in this cold water could be dangerous.
There is one scout half way down the run. You can't miss this dangerous rapid from the road.
If you happen to be passing through McCall during runoff, it's worth a couple hours to run up and do this piece. It is also on the way to Burgdorf Hot Springs and the Secesh put-in.
