Caldwell, 25 miles west of Boise, is the second largest city in Canyon County. It is home to The College of Idaho. The Jewett Auditorium, Resenthal Gallery of Art and Whitenberger Planetarium are among the highlights on campus. The premier event in Caldwell is the Caldwell Night Rodeo,"Where the Cowboys are the Stars." a western tradition that is held in August. Caldwell is enjoys recent recognition as "the Heart of Idaho Wine Country!" Ste. Chapelle Winery hosts a summer concert series. May features the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the Treasure Valley presented by the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce. Summer brings the Wednesday evening Farmers Market at Serenity Park May-Oct. Visit the newly renovated Indian Creek area in the heart of downtown. 2009 will feature the first "Blues on the Banks" Music Celebration. In September the highlight is the Indian Creek Festival. November brings the lighting of the Christmas Tree and Indian Creek Walk. The first week of December features the Treasure Valley Night Light Holiday Parade, presented by the Caldwell Chamber ofr Commerce. Visitors can enjoy great golf at Purple Sage or Fairview Golf Courses.
