Information
The Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center opened May 2008 and has become a regional destination for environmental education. The mission of the Boise WaterShed is to promote water stewardship by teaching people of all ages to protect and conserve our precious resource for future generations.
The building features high-tech exhibits that use humor to entertain, science to amaze and visuals to personalize exhibits.
The messages of conservation and stewardship are emulated through captivating works of art in and around the center. Through the Boise City Percent for Arts ordinance, local and regional artists have captured iconic and symbolic messages about our watershed.
The Boise WaterShed provides expectional opportunities for introducing pre-K-12 students to water and its many roles, human impacts to the watershed and the meaning of environmental stewardship. Take your students beyond the classroom for a memorable fieldtrip filled with discovery and fun. Students will engage in hand-on activities, demonstrations, applied science, experiments, walking tours of the wastewater treatment plant and water quality lab, and hikes to the nearby Boise River. Each lesson and tour aligns with the Idaho State Standards and builds upon concepts presented in the interactive exhibhit hall tour at the beginning of their visit to the Boise WaterShed. For a FREE lesson or tour, groups of 10 or more people must sign up two weeks in advance. To make a reservation, please call (208) 489-1284.
Go with the flow to the Boise WaterShed every third Saturday of each month for fun and activities the whole family can enjoy!
