Information
The Weippe Discovery Center focuses on telling the story of the Lewis and Clark Expedition's meeting the Nez Perce Indians on the Weippe Prairie, considered one of the most important in the Corps of Discovery saga and best told in the place where it happened. In addition to the Interpretative Center, the public library and technology center are housed here, along with a community meeting hall, college outreach center and small business enhancement center. A series of painted murals depicting expedition events across the Bitterroot Mountains, along with a life-size map showing the now famous trail and campsites are displayed around the center.
