Information

Idaho's newest wilderness, the Gospel Hump Wilderness Area, was formed under the Central Idaho Wilderness Act of 1980. Elevation in the wilderness area varies widely, ranging from 3500 feet at the Salmon River to 8,500 feet at Buffalo Hump. Oregon Butte and Buffalo Hump are popular places to hike.
