Information
At this point in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the explorers finally reached navigable waters after enduring grueling months crossing the Bitterroot Mountains. An interpretive sign relates how the expedition camped here from September 26 to October 7, 1805, while 5 canoes were built for their journey down the Clearwater, Snake and Columbia Rivers. A replica of a canoe is on display.
