Wineries
The wine industry in Idaho began in the early 1970s with vineyards being planted in what is now known as the Snake River Valley Appellation. These first vineyards were located in a major fruit growing area southwest of Caldwell known as the Sunny Slope area. In April 2007, Idaho's Snake River Valley received the prestigious designation as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) by the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. http://idahowines.org/
