Galena Lodge, built in the 1920s, was once a mining camp originally serving as the last Wood River Valley outpost in the early 1900s for the hunter and fisherman. Now Galena is popular as a winter Nordic ski lodge surrounded by 50 kilometers of trails. For mountain bikers, it is a perfect place to begin the sport. There are four major routes available including the Cherry Creek Loop, the Rip and Tear Loop and the Galena Grinder. Three backcountry yurts are available for a remote camping experience. Special events, lessons and clinics are offered.
