Information

It is in the area near Powell that members of the Lewis and Clark expedition were suffering the most during the fall of 1805. A sign near the ranger station identifies the Lewis and Clark Expedition's campsite of Sept. 14, 1805, where the party was "compelled to kill a Colt...for the want of meat..." Less than a quarter mile from the historic Lochsa Lodge.
