Information
Several Nordic trails near Idaho City are in the Idaho City Area Yurt and Trail System, a program of the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. A Park
N’ Ski pass is required to park at the trailhead lots Nov 15 – Apr 30. Some trails are relatively challenging and require advanced skiing skills while other areas are suitable for intermediate or expert skiers. The system is adjacent to several backcountry ski slopes for “tele-skiers”. This system includes trails in the Whoop-Um-Up, Gold Fork and Banner Ridge areas. Restrooms and plowed parking areas are available. Snowshoers are welcome on all trails while dogs are welcome on all non-groomed trails. Five Mongolian-style yurts are available for overnight camping as well as a forest service cabin.
