This museum celebrates the contributions of Sacajawea, a Lemhi-Shoshone woman who served as an interpreter for Lewis & Clark across the Bitterroot Mountains. The museum chronicles her life before, during and after the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Visitor facilities include a Visitor Center, Outdoor Amphitheater, Sacajawea Monument, historic Ranch Event Area, restrooms, picnic areas, fishing access, group areas, Meriwether Theater, Community Heritage Gardens, a Low Ropes Challenge Course, the Sacajawea Gateway Grove, a one-mile interpretive trail with a tipi encampment, fish weir, and other wildlife exhibits and a nature trail that follows the Lemhi River with a riverside sweat lodge. Presentations, demonstrations and concerts are offered throughout the Visitor Center open season. Groups are welcome and there is ample parking for passenger vehicles and buses.
